Back to the Future...and philosophy; Time travel is not - TopicsExpress

Back to the Future...and philosophy; Time travel is not impossible...just highly improbable. However, time is not linear. That is time or our perception of it is not traveling in a straight 2 dimensional line where by one can simply theoretically move back to a point occurring before the present one. But what if the actual act of moving back in time is impossible? Simply because of the fact that the timeline does not exist. However, what if one can move sideways not into a previous moment in time, but into a moment not yet experienced by a particular individual in a new dimension near identical to the individuals original one. Moving through not time and space but the space between spaces until the desired dimension is reached, Perhaps the physical act of moving matter such as a living organism or inanimate object through what is perceived as time or even dimensions is unlikely. However, has the theory of time travel ever been considered as an out of body experience? YES! Quantum Leap? The Butterfly Effect?! Perhaps as science is beginning to suggest, reality is in fact a hologram. And theoretically if one had the knowledge to do so, one would and could shape the physical world as he/she saw fit. (Neo, Lucy, Dr. Manhattan!) Furthermore, were this to be the case...journey to another point in time would really be no different than experiencing a vivid dream. One which you recall completely whilst simultaneously retaining recollection of the previous dream or reality. This idea however can be attributed to that of reincarnation as well. Where by a man on his deathbed. Surrounded by mourning loved ones departs this world. His last breath taken. His eyes close for the last time. Where he goes then, we can only speculate. Perhaps he awakens from a half remembered dream in another reality or dimension...while all conscious recollection of the last slips away. Suddenly...his uneasy feeling disperses and it does not matter anymore...his life is where he is now...at his new moment in time.
