Back when I was in high school....I sang in my senior class chorus.....we were pretty damn good...about a hundred students ...a few more......We were practicing this particularly truly GRAND Beethoven chorus....the other Hallelujah Chorus....maybe not as famous as Handles...ah...but a BREATHTAKING piece of music.......it was a huge old 4 floor Victorian school building we were in....and for practice all sat in the seats in the theater/auditorium in the very middle of the huge old brick building.. ........as a raging thunderstorm flashed and crashed outside the windows of the hall we were raised in voice in this great music................singing in a chorus is a deeply spiritual experience...persons..voices all raised together.....and this piece was one of our favorites for all the reasons of pleasures for both the audiences and the chorus members ourselves........a real HIGH...to perform.......................well....as the thunderstorm ragged outside..and at a particularly high moment in the chorus...a great flash of lighting...and all the power went off....everywhere....in the whole town we came to find out later.....but when we were flashed into darkness singing in that hall, not a beat was lost nor missed....right through the dark we sang and sang to great and glorious conclusion of this mighty music...!
