Back when I was in second grade, I walked, by myself, downtown to the YMCA for swimming lessons. Afterward I stopped at a drug store that was above Chucks barber on the corner of Lexington and Main for a candy bar. I remember it was the first time I ever tasted orange flavored chocolate. (It remains my favorite.) I didnt have enough money for a soda and candy so I alternated each day. (Mother only gave me twenty-five cents.) It sure seemed special way back then. Can you imagine sending your seven-year-old off like that now days?
