Back when we were growing vegetables instead of horses this would - TopicsExpress

Back when we were growing vegetables instead of horses this would be the time of year when we would plan just how overworked wed like to be for the rest of the year. Not really, of course, but we did tend to be a bit over the edge occasionally. We would be ordering our seed, fertilizer and planting supplies and deciding what we would be growing. It made winter a bit more bearable and even exciting as we would study up on new varieties, attend grower events and occasionally put in an order for a new piece of equipment that would make our job a little easier or productive. A mechanical transplanter was ordered one year and that was sweet! When we finally got to use it we wondered how wed ever done without it. You simply fill the tank with water, sit on one of the seats with trays of plants in front of you and feed the plants, one by one, into the machine. As the tractor slowly crept down the row you could look back and see a nice neat row of tender plants ready to grow, each with a dose of fertilizer and water around its roots. Im still searching for the perfect machine or technical wonder to help make my life a little easier now that were farming horses, pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, donkeys, pheasants, turkeys and oh, did I mention, horses. Now, dont get me wrong, I love my John Deere tractor/loader, but I want more! I was thinking maybe a manure fork with a built in sifting action, solar powered of course. Perhaps you have some ideas for a new invention that will help me take care of the Dun-Pikin critters. Add your thoughts in the comments below and feel free to bring a prototype the next time you Come Ride With Us!
