Bad day of golf v bad day of fishing v being alive! I was intent upon doing things other than just the lake while here in the Branson area. Thursdays guided fishing trip was amazing. Never caught so many trout in my life and after today - good thing. I started wade fishing for trout this morning around 9:30 and fished for an hour using all of the spin baits I had which was different than the fishing style we did with the guide on the boat. But after an hour and one broken rod, I went and bought 3 flies and some 2 lb line. Spent a while tying two of the flies but got back in the water around 11. One of first casts with the fly got a bite but I was busy untangling the reel. After some unsuccessful throws I switched to a white fly. Got a bite on first throw but when I set the hook the fly obviously came untied. Later saw a fish swim by with a white fly in his cheek - hope he chokes. While trying to tie the 3rd fly things really went wrong: line got tangled on pole, lure got tangled on my shirt etc. Finally got back in the water with the same lures I started with. After a few throws I got hung in the moss covered rocks. Started walking toward it to untangle it then it felt strange, then I realized I had a fish. The only catch of the day! Yesterday Reid and I played golf. It was the typical mixture of good drives and bad drives, horrible to moderate to a couple good irons, the slowest bent grass greens Ive ever played, some of the weirdest holes; over hills, side hills etc. Another 100. So as I reflect on all the challenges of the past two days and compare to where I have been since the springs of 2012, I think a bad day of golf or fishing is better than just about any other day.
