Bad weather affects domestic, intl flights - Flights of almost all the international airlines and domestic airlines were affected on Monday due to low visibility at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu owing to bad weather. Terminal Duty Office (TDO) at TIA asked Air Arabia, Turkish Air, Spice Jet, Biman Bangladesh, Indian Airlines, Fly Dubai and Korean Air, among others, to hover in the sky for around an hour after thick fog reduced visibility at the county’s only international airport. After hovering in the Nepali sky for about an hour, Turkish Airlines was asked to divert to New Delhi. “Though the airline came back after the weather improved, it was again diverted to Lucknow as landing was impossible due to low visibility,” an official of TDO Republica. Similarly, Fly Dubai was diverted to Lucknow. Qatar Airways, however, landed on time using required navigation performance-authorization required (RNP-AR) navigation technology.
