Bafana Bafana Name Change: When Personal Profits supercede - TopicsExpress

Bafana Bafana Name Change: When Personal Profits supercede Patriotism... Bafana Bafana name change has nothing to do with rallying the country behind the National Soccer team nor will it change the current setup with regards to soccer development, in fact in the grand scheme of things, calling a spade a digging instrument will merely result in the spade being more dull and blunt. *INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY Changing the name of the National team is going to be sped up, because the name already exists (the new name). In 2010 SAFA had a 50.1% : 49.9% share ratio with the owner of the Bafana Bafana brand name holder, they lost out big time on the brand name and continued to do so until now. The only business solution to this would obviously be to change the brand name and have 100% share holdership. Hence I believe the New Name already exists. *SOCCER DEVELOPMENT Large sums of money and other resources were availed for the development of Soccer in the country through its 2010 Legacy Programme, through this funding supplemented by other sponsors and stakeholders such as FNB, DBSA and others, Artificial Grass turfs have been built, Buses & cars were given to regional structures among other resources. Countless training is done for coaches and officials. Many teams come up and die natural deaths in the lower structures of Soccer development. These simple shortcomings are part of the reason our National Team does so dismally when put to the test. >There is no clear path to the top: How does a boy from Barkley become a National Player? >School Sport is Recreation (Not developmental but for fun)... Play>Win>Come back>Train>Play Win>Come Back... talent falls through the cracks and loses interest because they are not going anywhere. >Once off events, such as training/coaching clinics are considered developmental: This is where they invite a soccer start to come give a coaching clinic and motivational talk , which results in motivated youth which have nowhere to go leading to frustration. >Resource allocation... The structure that exist is top heavy, 80% is allocated to 20% in the structure... *SOLUTIONS >Develop a Physical Education Curriculum for public schools exposing children to sport from grade 3 and motor skills 3 times a week sessions at ECD centres > Establish Under 12 & Under 17 leagues in schools, forcing all current sponsors (Motsepe Cup/Danon/Cocacola... all school league sponsors) to pool their resources in two leagues to make sure all schools play. > Establish Provincial Under 17 and Under 23 Leagues which should be contested throughout all local municipalities later District Municipalities. These leagues should be the ones funded by SAFA. the players coming from these leagues should be selected as the Provincial squad and be housed at a provincial academy. > National Team players should be selected from the Provincial Academies. The National Team coach should be selected from the Academies earning his place just as the players. The National Coach will give direction and guidance to the Provincial coaches ensuring that all players are developed according to what the National teams needs. A National Academy would house the Nationally selected players a year prior to any major competition, the National Coach would have little work though because all Provincial Academies would be using the same Training Macrocycle. This way SAFA would have a pool of loyal players who earn their place at all levels and the Provinces would rally behind the National Team as it represents the Nation. PSL would continue to exit however none of the PSL players would be allowed to play for the country. You choose your country or you choose the money simple as that. PSL players play for money and money, the possibility of more money can easily sway their performance. National Academy system players would sweat and fight for their spot and know that there are 9 other players in the pool waiting for an opportunity to represent their country. OK Back to BAFANA BAFANA. the money for name change should rather be used to establish a structure and avail resources to it... FIFA Matches reflect Nigeria vs. South Africa, not Bafana Bafana>> if we want to change the Nick Name, lets do it without employing resources to it! For a Spade is But a Spade, Spending R200 Million to call it a Digging instrument would be Useless
