Bafana players facing disciplinary action from SAFA Bafana Bafana players of Thabo Matlaba, Oupa Manyisa, Teko Modise and Sthembiso Ngcobo are facing disciplinary action from the South African Football Association (SAFA) following their snub of the national team. Gordon Igesund on Sthembiso Ngcobo: “Ngcobo was also chosen into the squad and he decided not to be here because he felt he needed time to spend with his family in Durban. There were other players to be considered but it was difficult to get visas from certain areas.” Gordon Igesund on Teko Modise: “I spoke to Teko, I think it was two days ago. I said to him, ‘I know it is short notice, but this is the situation.’ I explained to him and congratulated him on a fantastic season he has had especially in the second round and for winning the championship. I explained everything to him and I asked him if he will be available to come, but I don’t know where he was on holiday or whatever the case it may be.” “He said to me, ‘Coach, I think everything will be okay, but I will come back to you in 10 minutes.’ He never came back to me, but he sent an sms to Barney Kujane stating that he was very honest but he is very sorry. He is not going to be able to make it. He feels he has had a tough season with Sundowns and his body is very tired and that was the reason why he pulled out.” Letters have been sent to their clubs namely Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
