Bailey and I went for a very short walk on this cold Sunday - TopicsExpress

Bailey and I went for a very short walk on this cold Sunday morning. She was glad to get back inside where it is nice and warm. We were out a little earlier and watched the sun come up. That is always a awe inspiring sight for me with the different hues across the sky just before it peaks over the horizon. And then as it slowly rises and its brightness fills the sky., there is no doubt in my mind that there is a loving God that created it. I have wondered what a cattle owner feels when a wild animal spooks his herd and they stampede. After he rounds them up, he still is missing a few head. He goes out and searches for the strays and manages to find a few but, as he gets close to a small calf, it runs off into a thicket. How does he feel the next day as he sees that little calf come limping back to the herd, dirty and with a little blood from the scratches of the thorns in the thicket. He is excited and immediately goes to the calf, who is now back with its mother getting nourishment, and checks to make sure it is okay. How does God feel when one of His own suddenly leaves His fold and wanders off, out into the dangers of sin. How does God feel when that person is approached by others and encouraged to turn and come back but, runs deeper into the thicket of sin. Then, one day, they come limping back, bruised and broken, asking Can I come back? Will you accept me? God will always be happy when they come back and He will always accept them when they return, just as the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son, see Luke 15:11-37.
