Bailey is asleep on the floor beside me as I sit in front of our fireplace. We went out about 4:00 am and encountered one of our fine furred friends, one that dont like to meet. There was a skunk ambling across our yard which caused me to retreat to the safety of our front porch. As curious as Bailey was, I kept her on a very short leash until our visitor crossed the street into a neighboring yard. A little more on Christmas Tree decorations. How do you top off your Christmas Tree? Many people have a star at the top of their trees, which represents the star that led the wise men to where Jesus had been born as seen in Matthew 2:9b-10, which reads And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Others may have an angel at the top of the tree because the angels announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in the fields as we see in Luke 2:10-12 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” After reading Matthews and Lukes account of the birth of Christ, it is difficult to understand why many, at that time, denied that He was the Son of God. The birth of Christ was foretold several times in the Old Testament and, His birth fulfilled those prophecies. The star guiding the wise men and the angels proclaiming his birth can only be the work of God. Today, many deny Christ on a daily basis. Also, many people often use His name in vain. When attempting to talk with some about Him, they just laugh at you, or worse, and walk away. Jesus warns us about denying him in Matthew 10:33, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. and in Luke 12:9, but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. However, if we look at the verses right before each of those, He tells us if we acknowledge Him before men, He will acknowledge us before God.
