Bajwa demands arrest of Industries Minister Anil Joshi in assault case Amritsar, May 11: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, today demanded registration of a First Information Report against the Industries Minister, Mr. Anil Joshi, and his immediate arrest in the case of murderous attack on Amritsar lawyer, Mr. Vineet Mahajan, who had earlier filed the case against him relating to his dual vote. In a statement issued here, the PPCC chief said it was this case in which the court had issued warrants against him following his failure to present himself. Mr. Bajwa said what was all the more shocking that Mr. Mahajan was attacked within no time of his claiming at a news conference that he would be assaulted by the goondas of Mr. Joshi as earlier, his friend, Mr. Sandeep Gorsi, had been framed in an attempt to murder case. Both these lawyers had unearthed the case of dual vote associated with Mr. Joshi and several members of his family. He urged the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab to direct the police to take immediate action against Mr. Joshi as he had no faith in the state administration and moreover, it was under their jurisdiction of the ECI till the declaration of results on May 16. He said apart from the arrest of Mr. Joshi, the case registered against Mr. Gorsi and the Congress Councillor, Mr. Gurinder Rishi, should be withdrawn immediately. Mr. Bajwa said the ruling alliance was failing to learn any lesson from the anger vented out by the people in the state during the Lok Sabha elections against lawlessness and goondaism prevailing in the state patronised by the ruling alliance leaders. “Mr. Joshi is now trying to scuttle of voices of the two lawyers who had exposed this grave irregularity. This is not acceptable in a democratic set up”, he said adding that the Congress would force action against Mr. Joshi by mobilising people. He said the Congress would not be mute spectator to the atrocities being committed on the people by the henchmen of the ruling alliance and issued stern warning that the party men would take to streets and immobilise the administration. He said the pattern in the registration of a case against Mr. Gorsi and the murderous assault against his colleague, Mr. Mahajan, the very next day was very clear. It was a clear case of political vendetta unleashed by the alliance leaders against the people immediately after the elections.
