Bakemonogatari S1, E1 So, this anime has piqued my interest to say the least, I will defiantly continue it. So, a few things I noticed in episode 1: A) There is a heavy emphasis on perspective. There were multiple times when the main characters eyes made the shutter sounds of a camera. During the conversation with the glasses girl (I have a terrible time with names) The main character would cover her eyes with a pen. And the camera often has odd angles, showing only parts of the characters in frame B) We never get a good look at the main character talking. Mostly the shots are composed of the scenery or of the women talking. C) The color palate. The backgrounds consist of oranges and reds while the people are composed of blues and purples. The characters and the scenery are complementary colors, maby showing how disconnected the characters are with the normal world? (reminds me of persona 4) D) Shadows. There are some jagged-ass shadows in parallel lines, almost has a noire feel to it. The shadows also tend to cut the characters in half. these are just observations, no real predictions or guesses as to whats going to happen next. What I CAN say tho is that this anime visually is fantastic. It invites the viewer to explore the world, along with (Im assuming) the main character.
