Theater Institute) & OWOEP GEORGE VAIL KABRISTANTE, Artistic Director & Facilitator WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION The workshop is mainly interactive in that participants go through various phases of creative and improvisational acting exercises in the way of simulations, individual and group studies, scene studies, sensitivity sessions, team buildings, group dynamics, reflections, & the like aimed at showing how psycho-physical stimulation of the body, voice and consciousness can unleash creative potentials for specific forms of empowerment for community & corporate engagement and preparedness to immerse oneself in the ephemeral world of show business, TV, movie and entertainment. WORKSHOP FEES: PHP8,000 FREQUENCY OF WORKSHOP: 8 SESSIONS / 3 HOURS PER SESSION MAXIMUM WORKSHOPPERS : 10PAX WORKSHOP WILL START : 5 RESERVED PAX TERMS OF PAYMENT : 50% down upon registration 50% payables after 2-3 sessions WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: To be arranged flexibly to accommodate common or convenient time for most workshoppers, e.g., early morning, late afternoon or evenings toward midnight. CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL THEATER INSTITUTE and OWOEP Olivars World of Events Production A brief resume GEORGE VAIL KABRISTANTE Workshop Facilitator A writing fellow to the most coveted Annual National Summer Writers Workshop at Silliman University, Dumaguete City & Palihang Aurelio Tolentino Integrated Playwriting Worskhop, Q.C., George Vail Kabristante has written several screenplays, designed & directed as well for films, digital, commercial, TV & stage. He is an alumnus of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City and has been a faculty at the Graduate School, College of Education teaching Special Education and mass communication subjects e.g., scriptwriting & production for instructional purpose for graduate students and as Guidance Counselor at the College of Arts & Sciences, including UP Los Banos in which he headed the SOAD (Student Organizations & Activities Division), Office of Student Affairs taking charge among others of the weekly film showing for the UP Los Banos community. He has also been a faculty lecturer at the Phil. Normal College and Saint Paul’s College, Manila. He collaborated in writing and designing “Sali-Salising Buhay” (“Intertwining Lives”), a soap opera series on social development produced & hosted by his mentor Cecile Guidote Alvarez for her longest running & award-winning Balintataw Drama TV anthology on PTV4 & Channel 9 which was given an unprecedented honor of being the first soap opera to be featured globally on CNN for 7 minutes by host-producer Barbra Pyle and in international habitat summits moderated by actress Jane Fonda. He has directed some episodes of said Balintataw TV anthology including documentaries and TVCs for Earthsavers/ DREAMS (Development, Rehabilitation, Education thru Arts, Media & Sciences co-founded by Cecile and husband former senator Heherson T. Alvarez. He has for over a year directed a weekly TV show “Celebrity Night of Dance & Music” aired on cable Destiny Channel with provincial airing and directed some feature films as well like “Uod Sa Laman,” the “ Diary of A Liar,” & “The Trial of a Beggar,” and the recent version of “Noli Me Tangere.” Moreover, he is in the writers pool of Writer’s Bloc that annually stages untested “virgin” plays at the annual Virgin Labfest at the Cultural Center of the Phil. and in the Writer’s Pool of PETA (Phil. Educational Theater Association) headed by Tim Dacanay & Manny Pambid. PETA was founded by Cecile Guidote Alvarez, former Executive Director of NCCA (National Commission for Culture & the Arts), RM Magsaysay Awardee for Public Service & National Artist for Theater. Having attended acting lessons at the Actors Centre -Australia, Italy, La Mama Theater in New York, Lee Strasberg-Los Angeles, CA., Mexico, Japan, Korea, etc. on Phil.-UNESCO ITI travel grants, Kabristante up to the present time conducts improvisational, creative & personality-enhancement/ empowerment/ community leadership workshops including drama education for public and private school teachers using Stanislavsky & Method-based school of acting for individual and corporate set-ups including the film sector to which he is an active practitioner. He was one of the pioneers in putting up the first Agrix Film Acting Academy in the 80s whose workshoppers include Lloyd Samartino, Efren Reyes, Jr., Dennis Roldan, Ricky Davao, etc. Since then up to the present, Kabristante has been actively handling acting and empowerment/ personality development workshops for those desiring to be part of the movie/TV/ and theater industry as part of the outreach program of Balintataw Film & Theater Arts-UNESCO ITI. Some of his workshoppers are now gainfully employed in the entertainment industry, but he would rather not name them because he believes that their workshop experience with him was but part of their passage to their career path that they have embraced to the present time. He has been a testing officer (assessor) for production at TESDA (Technological Education & Skills Dev’t. Authority) for OPAs (Overseas Performing Artists) deployed to Japan. George Vail is most active attending & reading papers in theater congresses abroad on travel grants through the UNESCO Phil. Center for ITI (International Theater Institute) and Balintataw Film & Theater Arts as co- Artistic Director with Sydney-based émigré Marcelino Cavestany, Jr. Also, he is the Artistic Director of Arte Cordillera, a group of performing artists which he co-founded with founding president Mario Rosete advocating protection of the environment through the arts based in Baguio City. On the side, he is a freelance journalist for entertainment, culture & lifestyle. He writes for magazines, tabloids and broadsheets and is a member of NPC (National Press Club) of the Phil. and PMPC (Phil. Movie Press Club) Star Awards that bestows annual awards for excellence in the craft of acting and production for film, TV and music. At present he is commissioned to co-direct with Director Banjo Cleofe the lives of Catholic saints produced by Caritas.
