Ballou is hangin in there, following his near death experience - TopicsExpress

Ballou is hangin in there, following his near death experience when he arrested on the table during his cleft repair surgery attempt a few weeks ago. Hes been pretty puny since then - followed by an issue with his surgically placed feeding tube - (which I ultimately opted to pull). Ballou is totally without artificial support at this point and we are taking it moment by moment with regard to his feeds. (teensie drops via syringe every few minutes throughout the day and night - since 25% of the cleft remains wide open and the risk of aspiration is very high.... however, the risk of Ballou arresting again during surgery to finish the cleft repair or place another feeding tube, is even higher). His energy level is increasing day by day - and with time, we should start seeing some slow weight gain. (just over a pound and a half right now) Well keep at this regimen until Ballou is to a point (much bigger and stronger) to undergo his next cleft repair attempt. Nora - 3.5 months old - 15 ounces - is doing quite well with her treatment for hydrocephalus. She is, however - offering a negative response with hair loss due to the treatment meds. What little bit of hair she does have, has been coming out in patches sporadically - but with coconut milk soaks, diet changes and different homeopathic attempts, I think were starting to get a grip on it without having to cease the treatments required to fend off the hydrocephalus symptoms. As she gets a little older (and hopefully, a bit more mellow) - were hopeful that she will be able to form some friendships with some of the other kids around here... right now, none of them can handle her high energy and invasive play for very long at one time, lol. youtu.be/vPlqmebThT4
