Banal na Pagkainggit; Meron ba Non? Proverbs 14:30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. Contentment is heavily tied to envy. An envious person will never be content and a content person will not envy. Let’s take a look at a story: Two girls go up to Santa hoping for a present. Santa asks the first girl, “would you like a pony?” The little darling quickly nods and opens her arms to receive a beautiful little pony toy. She clutches it in her hands with a big smile and looks at the other girl as if to gloat over her newfound gift. Santa asks the second girl, “would you like a pony?” The second girl says yes, and Santa brings out a real Pony! She quickly jumps up on it and rides off. The first girl’s heart sinks. She throws down her toy and runs off crying, leaving with nothing. Is this not our wicked human nature?! The jealous girl’s situation did not change at all – she still had a beautiful new toy that she didn’t have before. But because someone ELSE had something better, she could not be happy with what she had. She was rejoicing one instant, distraught the next. She didn’t LOSE anything. She had the same toy she had all along. But because someone ELSE received something better than her, she could not be happy. Banal na pagkainggit!!!! Ito ang madalas kong biro kapag may mga kapatiran na nagkakaroon ng anomang bagong bagay, pero meron nga po bang banal na pagkainggit? WALA...ang inggit kahit kelan ay mali at hindi kailanman magiging kabanalan. Bakit nga ba maging mananampalataya ay nagiging biktima nito? Hindi maaaring masiyahan tayo sa tagumpay ng iba? o kayay makigalak sa pagasenso at pagunlad ng buhay ng ating kapwa. Do we gaze at the “toys” our friends have and have a secret jealousy and unhappiness? The job he or she has, the looks, the house, the money, the position in church, the nice body, the rich family, the high education? Walang kwenta ang inggit, mamuhay tayo ng may contentment sa paniniwala na ang lahat ng bagay ay kaloob ng Dios. We’ve got to rid ourselves of this need to be on top! How much selfishness we have in our hearts!
