Banbury United 0-5 Corby Town Corby move up level on points with league leaders Poole Town after a comfortable win at the Spencer Stadium this evening The league high-flyers would prove much too strong for United and ran out comfortable winners. Corby should have gone in front in the fifth minute when a cross from Greg Mills went to Spencer Weir-Daley but the Corby striker wasted the glorious chance by shooting well over the bar from just five yards. However just three minutes later disaster struck United as Jack Westbrook ushering the ball out for a goal kick amazingly picked it up before it had crossed the line. Mills converted the spot kick. Corby dominated as the half developed and only some good goalkeeping by Leigh Bedwell and some less than impressive finishing kept the deficit to a single goal. Banbury improved from the half hour mark but just as there was a glimmer of light for the home side, Corby would score their second goal four minutes before the interval, a Mills cross being turned in from close range by Weir-Daley. Any hopes of a Banbury comeback effectively disappeared three minutes after the interval when Mills put Ben Milnes through and he made no mistake in beating the advancing Bedwell. There was no way back for United now and Corby would add a fourth goal in the 75th minute when a Weir-Daley shot was saved by Bedwell only for the rebound to be knocked home by substitute Wilson Carvalho and then Mills completed the rout in stoppage time to make the final score 5-0.
