Band Parents: I am posting for everyone a copy of an email sent to me by Mr. Leshowitz in regards to any concerns regarding the Mustang Band changing its style of marching and playing. I have cut and pasted it verbatim with Mr. Leshowitzs permission and his contact information should you have any concerns.. Thanks Steve Goldberg Good morning: Thank you for your email, I appreciate your reaching out. Id like to start off by letting you know that I myself have been a part of the Clifton school community since 2001, and also hold in extremely high regard the customs and traditions of the Mustang Band that have been passed down from generation to generation. Id like to state for the record that Mr. Holody 100% shares these viewpoints with me, and has already been in touch and consulted with various Big 10 college marching band directors in the Midwest, as well as alumni of those bands that reside here in the tri-state area in regards to gaining additional knowledge on the high step. Furthermore, two of the current assistant band directors (as well as Mrs. Morgans recommendation for the new majorette director) have been offered their positions again for the upcoming school year, and Mr. Holody is very much looking forward to working closely and collaborating with them all. Additionally, Mr. Holody plans to utilize his five years experience in teaching high school marching/concert band, as well as jazz band and drill instruction to further the skill sets of the Mustang band. With that said, Id like to dispel any and all rumors that Mr. Holody has intentions of making the Mustang band into a bugle corp marching band-- this is completely inaccurate and without any merit whatsoever. The high step we all hold so dear to our hearts will continue in full force, the fight songs we all love will continue to be played, and the Mustang band will continue to thrive as the show band of the Northeast! On that note, I look forward to having Mr. Holody sit down with you and other members of the Band Parents Organization before the end of July sometime to discuss the future endeavors of our fine band in more detail. Thank you for your support and understanding, and all my very best- Jason Leshowitz District Supervisor of Visual & Performing Arts 745 Clifton Ave. Clifton, NJ 07012 (973) 594-4199
