Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has withdrawn restrictions on cricketer Shakib Al Hasan that prevented him from playing abroad. Thursdays announcement ended the star cricketers 18-month ban on taking part in tournaments outside the country for breach of discipline. Board chief Nazmul Hasan officially broke the news on his return from Singapore at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday night. Shakib was suspended last Jul 7 because of his ‘serious misbehaviour’ with Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha, and for his altercation with a spectator during an ODI against India in Mirpur. The BCB also made it clear that Shakib will not get any No- Objection Certificate (NOC) required to play overseas. Later, the board reduced the top all- rounder’s penalty. It lifted the ban on playing international and domestic cricket on Sept 15, but restrictions on playing abroad remained. Nazmul Hasan said last Tuesday that a board meeting on the isdue will be delayed. So they decided to respond to the appeal of lifting Shakib’s ban through verbal and written consent. Shakib returned to international cricket in the recent series against Zimbabwe. He was announced the best player in the 3-0 Test series rout of Zimbabwe. Again, he was the pick of the bowlers in the Tigers’ 5-0 clean sweep of the ODI series. Cricket Australia will hold the Big Bash League (BBL) from Dec 18 to Jan 28 next year. Shakib represented Adelaide Strikers in the last edition of the Australian domestic Twenty20 league.
