Bangladeshi migrants Senapati, Mar 10: Seven Bangladeshi illegal immigrants were slapped with Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for 160 days and a fine of Rs 10,000/- each within four days by the District & Sessions Court, Senapati. Judge G Gaiphulshilu convicted the 7 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants under Section 14 (A &B) of the Foreigners Act. Additional Public Prosecutor, Koshia Mao was also present during the proceedings. Failure to pay the fine would result in further imprisonment of three months. The offenders were earlier arrested from Kanglatombi and lodged at Sajiwa jail. Directions to this effect was passed on to the Home Secretary and the SP, Sajiwa Jail. The Home Department was also directed to make arrangement for deportation of the immigrants and further necessary action.
