Bangladeshi politics is becoming very crystal clear to everyone. BNP says it wants a level playing field but surely this is an elimination round for both BNP and Awami League. Awami League traditionally follows agency theory and its leaders are good at carrying out plans drafted in India. Sitting in Calcutta they monitored independence war in 1971. Now they see a prosperous Bangladesh walking with India that has a strong economic interest in this country. If the USA can have Mexico as its backyard, and China can have North Korea, can India not be a suzerain country and have Bangladesh under its hegemony? The Indian interest in Bangladesh is clear and it is musing the attention both parties are giving it. In this perfect mating season between Awami League and India, here comes BNP, a group that was formed by capitalist powers back in the 80s to block the Soviet shadow. Who needs them now? Both India and Awami League (AL) is pro-USA now. Here comes BNP saying they will free all criminals affiliated with the party out of jail. Of course AL also did the same and they are adamant to make Bangladesh a satellite factory in the global supply chain under their management. There is this particular leader Mr Tofael Ahmed who monitors that no reconciliation is possible. He rejected the negotiation proposal in the parliament and he says it would be wrong to have a telephone conversation at the top. He is a clear face of the Indian interest in Bangladesh. I do not see any chance for BNP in this strategic game following old theories like creating disruption. Those Latin American socialist tactical handbooks are of no use now. BNP is seeking some kind of bigger power madly and those Burmese Rohingas are not good enough as foreign supporters. They must find an international level playing field rather than looking at the domestic market.
