Bangor CareerCenter and Libraries Team Up to Assist Unemployment Claimants with Maine Job Bank Registration Requirement Assistance available in Bangor, Bar Harbor, Dover-Foxcroft, East Millinocket, Ellsworth, Greenville, Lincoln, Milo, Newport, Orland, and Southwest Harbor BANGOR––Maine unemployment security law requires all individuals filing for Unemployment Insurance benefits to be registered with the Maine Job Bank. The Bangor CareerCenter has teamed up with local libraries in Hancock, Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties to offer support and assistance to people collecting unemployment and need help with Job Bank registration. CareerCenter staff are available at libraries in these towns to assist walk-ins with Maine Job Bank registration. January 16: Greenville, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. January 20: Southwest Harbor, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. January 22: Newport, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. January 23: Milo, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. January 27: Lincoln, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. January 28: Bar Harbor, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Citizens in need of this assistance will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis at each library. Assistance is also available at the following locations: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bangor CareerCenter Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eastern Maine Development Corporation offices at the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mill Mall in Ellsworth Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the higher education center in East Millinocket Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.at the Orland Transition Center CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge. Call 561-4050 (TTY users call Maine Relay 711) for additional information and to register for workshops held at the CareerCenter.
