Banking on ethnicism Im at the bank the other day querying - TopicsExpress

Banking on ethnicism Im at the bank the other day querying about my internet banking. I was attended by a young beautiful teller. Since this was my third time going there for the same query, my expectations were too low therefore I had no emotion to raise, it would have been futile. While she was trying her best to resolve my query, she started chatting me up as perfunctory, they always do just to pass time. She asked about my surname and wondered if I was Zulu. My answer to her was; By origin Im Xhosa and Zulu by design. Her answer was, I hate both Zulus and Xhosas. Those people nje I just dont like them. I probed further for the source of such negative energy. No answer came through. Needless to say I was surprised and concerned at the same time. Wondering why in the world would anyone dislike another person no reason except that they dont like them. My mind ran wild, I thought it cant be my bank account because Im already on overdraft. I couldnt pin down her hatred to anything. I remained composed and attentive. I think such composure was a turning point for her because she started asking more questions and with greater interest. Realising my stoic demeanour to her discriminatory outlook, she decided to zone in on me. I know I have this distinct look about me-my grey hair. My wife calls me Gendolf the grey #Lordoftherings. The teller admitted to me that I looked like Im from some Royal family or I was a priest. So I laughed a little and asked why, and she retorted, You have presence and dignity about you. She called it, seriti (corrections accepted). I thanked her for the conversation and went on to another consultant for finalisation of my query. It was sorted and I was happy. Happy particularly knowing my exit was near and that I wouldnt be exposed to silly beauty. I still dont know what to make of my encounter with her......thought I should share.
