Barbados Focus: live animals and products of animal origin, certificate of analysis, certificate of fumigation, news regarding diverse trade-related issues. The import documentation for Barbados has been reviewed and adapted accordingly. The following changes have been made: Live Animals and Products of Animal Origin In order to be cleared for customs, consignments of Live Animals and Products of Animal Origin usually underlie a physical inspection at the border point of entry. For this purpose, a health certificate confirming that the animals or goods to be imported are not infected and do not carry any infectious diseases is required. The following documents have been furnished with samples of respective health certificates for the importation of live animals and animal products specifically into Barbados: Veterinary Health Certificate for Animal Products Veterinary Health Certificate for Live Animals. Further requirements for the trade in these goods may also be found in the corresponding section below. Certificate of Analysis Certain imports may require to be accompanied by a document which certifies that applicable microbiological and physical/chemical tests have been carried out by an appropriate laboratory in the country of origin. By way of example, certain foodstuffs, water, soils, fertilisers and forages may be subject to chemical analysis in regard to their nutrient content, chemical constituents and residues, as applicable. The product quality, suitability for the intended use and absence of risks for environmental contamination may be proven by the importer in form of a Certificate of Analysis, which has been added to the set of documents of this report. Certificate of Fumigation For certain types of plants and plant products to be imported into Barbados, a certificate from the country of origin may be required to prove that the product has been fumigated prior to shipment and does not contain any contagious pests. For this purpose, the document entitled Certificate of Fumigation has been incorporated into this report. In the case of solid wood packaging material (SWPM), as illustrated in the chapter on Packaging and Labelling Requirements, SWPM will only be permitted into Barbados if it has been fumigated with methyl bromide.
