Barberton Community Foundation Board Chairman Tom Harnden said the Foundation has hired a search firm to assist in hiring a new executive director to replace the retiring Larry Lallo, who will leave in February. Harnden said the $11,000 fee to be charged by Laurenzi Enterprises of North Royalton was a “bargain.” He said focus groups will be formed for community input to help determine the qualities the new executive director should possess. The board voted to support Issue 8 in the Nov. 5 general election. The issue is a proposed .25 percent city income tax increase to be designated for street improvements. Tom Anders, chair of the nominating committee, said candidates are being interviewed to fill board vacancies. He said 14 candidates are under consideration for four vacancies, two of which were created when members Tom Gough and Kim Carson resigned earlier this year. The other two will occur at the end of the year when terms expire for Dennis Liddle and Lois Matney.
