Barcelona superstars, Neymar and Lionel Messi, enjoyed the opportunity to face one another for the last time before becoming team-mates last night. The dazzling duo were on opposite teams in a charity game in Lima, Peru, which pitted a Messi and Friends XI against a World XI inspired by Neymar. The result of the game was 8-5 to Messi’s team, with La Pulga Atomica, his Barcelona team-mate Dani Alves, Brazilian/Italian striker Pablo Osvaldo, Pablo Aimar, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Diego Buonanotte all bagging goals. But of course, it was flavour of month Neymar who stole the show. He may have missed a penalty, but made up for it with two particular moments of genius. The first was a cheeky lob from almost the half-way line, which you can click here to watch, and which perfectly encapsulated Neymar’s almost cartoon-like imagination and technical ability. The second was all the more comical. Uruguay skipper Diego Lugano recently branded Neymar a diver (click here to read) during the Confederations Cup. The Brazil ace did not respond with words, and helped the Selecao dismiss Uruguay’s challenge on the field instead. But it seems he remembers Lugano’s insults, and exacted humiliating revenge on the veteran defender last night. Click here to watch Neymar use his pace and trickery to make Lugano feel all of his 32 years! Now that the fun is over, the serious business of La Liga and Champions League football is soon to begin, with the ruthless dream combination of Neymar and Messi just waiting to be unleashed by Spanish champions Barcelona.
