Barclays rated worst UK bank in new scorecard Barclays is the worst bank for honesty and customer service, according to an ethical scorecard. By Jessica Winch (The Telegraph) Barclays’ 12 million current account customers have been urged to switch to other banks and building societies after the bank scored just four out of 100 points in a test for honesty and customer service. Campaign group Move Your Money said Barclays was the lowest scoring financial institution out of 70 assessed. Barclays scored lower than RBS, HSBC and Lloyds, although all were awarded a Move Your Money ‘red’ rating reserved for the lowest-scoring institutions. The verdict is a blow for Barclays which has been trying to improve its image following a string of scandals including Libor fixing. Last week it launched a website for customer feedback, Your Bank, which retail chief executive Ashok Vaswani said would guide the bank’s future strategy. A spokesman for Barclays said the bank was “disappointed” by the ranking. “We work hard to put our customers at the heart of everything we do and have taken active steps to ensure this happens,” he said.
