Barriers to the Vote On Monday April 21, 2014 the National Commission on Voting Rights is conducting a Hearing at the University of Missouri in Kansas City Law School from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The leadership for this Hearing is the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under the Law. At 1:30 p.m. I am scheduled to testify on behalf of the League of Women Voters of Kansas. My topic is how the requirement for documentary proof of U.S. Citizenship has reduced the numbers of voters registered by the League. This meeting is open to the public. Time has been reserved for members of the public to give oral testimony or to submit written testimony describing their experiences. I encourage Kansans to speak out about registering to vote.
