Barring one or two speakers whose presentation was more of essay reading, all others stole the thunder at the Goans for Goa Convention. However, the convention can be summarised in just one sentence- Formation of Village Advisory Committees (VAC) was the theme of the convention. This was how I saw it. All other things spoken are common denominators. The VACs will act as watchdogs. And as Kennedy Afonso, convenor of the convention put it-“when 180 odd villages have their committees in place it will become a force.” We are given to understand all ground work has been done; now it’s a matter of formation. So, why wait? As of now, we have only been closing the stable door when the horse has bolted. With VACs in place this will not happen. Let actions speak louder than words. Words are cheap. Because people say things they have no intention of keeping.
