Barron Smith challenged me to list my 10 favorite books of all time. Im not sure about of all time but right now should cover the parameters of the challenge, these are in no order of importance just the way they came about. 1) No Easy Day, cant remember the author and have loaned the book to D. Randall. About seal team 6 and the minute to minute, day to day effort to kill Ben Laden. We have the best armed forces and special ops on the planet. 2) Widow of the south by Robert Hicks. About a real southern Lady who tried to keep it together while battles in her apple orchard were taking place, and a northern hospital set up on her porch and her house. Hiding her help so they wouldnt be freed and enlisted at the same time. They were like family to her. And finally the loss of her husband. But the farm was saved in the end. 3)Lets Roll! Lisa Beamer. The story of flight 97 from 9/11. Her husband Todd was instrumental in the attack on the Hi Jackers that eventually led to the crash over Pa. of the plane that was headed for the white house. 4)Marley and me. John Grogan, A funny feel good book with a really bad ending. 5) Cold mountain. Charles Frazer. Battle story lines were not as real in the movie as they were in the book. He took more liberties than shown also. But Phillip Seymour Hoffman should have been in the book, because he nailed the preacher in the movie. 6)The Stand. Steven King Best King Ever. Its a bit toothy but its well worth the trip. 7)Living Hell, the dark side of the civil war, Michael CC Adams. This is the true account of the civil war, where disease and injury took more life than the actual battle. The horrendous living conditions that the troops had to face. Bare footed in frost spewed fields with no coats. The heat of the summer and spread of infection. Amputations to the point of piles of limbs outside the surgeons tent. One of the best, horrible books Ive read. And it was written from the letters of the fighting men who were there in the middle of it all. 8)Green eggs and Ham Sam I Am The Grench who Stole Christmas. This is really a pickum, but if you nailed me to it, I Love Whoville, always have. Little Cindy Lou is a heart stealer. Love me some Dr S. 9)90 minutes in Heaven. Don Piper. True story of a car wreck where this guy Don Piper gets creamed by this log truck. He is trapped and slowly bleeding out and he dies and goes to heaven has this glorious experience and is sent back, an hour and a half after the wreck. Will make the hair on your neck stand up. Its a great read. 10) The Great Gatsby. F. Scott Fitzgerald .. Just a really fast time to be around, I think I could have hung with that bunch, even with all that was going on back then Okay these are my 10 and I challenge, as my three Shelly Allbritton Bailey Matthew McAdams , Dennis Smith.
