Barry Lubin aka Grandma says it so well: Dear everyone who puts down traditional circus, intimating or outright declaring that contemporary circus is our only hope, SHUT UP! Without traditional circus, there would be no such thing as contemporary circus. Circus has been reinventing itself from the beginning, meaning evolving. When that evolution of our beloved art form doesnt succeed, it dies. And at the end of the day, if your show strikes a chord, touches the heart, and wows people, then I support you. In fact, if it doesnt, I still applaud your efforts and support you, until you put me and my fellow traditionalists down.
