Bars bars bars bars: Ingrid Roten Mattson Thank you so much for your comments, Valerie! How would you proceed with the bar pools? They seem to be very deep (maybe no sole underneath!?). I’ve tried removing some of the bar material from the bar pools (approx.. 1/4), then leaving them for a couple of weeks, but then the bar material seem to fill back in… July 22 at 5:30pm · Like · 2 Valerie Gottschalk Id only give it a one week break. The filling back in hopefully is it surfacing instead. It looks like you are getting it backed up, so keep after it and just watch every stroke of the knife so you know whats under it.. When the texture or color changes or goes to pink, stop! July 22 at 10:03pm · Like · 4 Louise van Gaal Valerie, when you mark up a picture like that are you saying that this area needs to gradually removed and the bar moved back to the line drawn? Sometimes it is hard to know if people are recommending more work on the bars immediately or over time. July 23 at 7:58am · Like · 4 Valerie Gottschalk Louise, getting the curve out of the bar will stop the heel quarters from spreading and keep the bar in bar land and ramping it down a little keeps it from jamming inside. The fulcrum area is a favorite pooling area, besides interfering with the hoof flex/mechanism/breakover.. yes, Im suggesting more work to correct. July 23 at 10:23am · Like · 4 Ingrid Roten Mattson Tanks for the comeback and tips:) to me it seems like the bar pools arent surfacing. When I leave them the colour is more like the colour of the golden line, but in a week or two theyve got the colour of the inner wall... how deep can I go in one trim? normally I trim the fronts every week. And another question: do the fronts and the hinds always have the same ideal heel hight? July 24 at 7:16pm · Like Valerie Gottschalk Bar does have a golden line (pigmented on the wall beside the collateral groove, white in the middle and that golden line on the sole side), so you want to get that out also. The bars golden line is usually the easiest to see the sideways bar tubule. Cheryl says she never goes more than a quarter inch deep at a time, but it kinda depends on the bar in YOUR hoof.. sometimes its not very deep, sometimes it is and has gone under the side of the frog... none are going to be the same, which is why I keep saying be sure you know what is under that knife curl. As soon as you see the texture or color change or pink or tiny pink dots, STOP! July 24 at 8:02pm · Like · 3 Cheryl Edwards-Henderson Ingrid Roten Mattson I couldnt comment on the individual pictures. 1. the bars are deep into the sole are. That will cause not only bruising as see in the bright red outlining the bar. This is crushed sole corium and it can eventually abscess if not relieved of that pressure. The capsules dont look bad at all. Those are not lamintic creases but compression lines. I dont believe in lamintis making wrinkles and creases. The fat deposits you can rule out as IR if you get blood work.
