Bartonville police clarify letter about revoked FOIDs THOMAS BRUCH Posted: 08/12/2013 10:52 PM Bartonville residents with revoked FOID cards need to submit their cards to the Bartonville Police Department in person as soon as possible. Under provisions of the new statewide concealed carry law, people with revoked Firearm Owners Identification cards or any sponsored minor FOID cards are receiving letters from the Illinois State Police requesting immediate compliance in handing over their cards to the appropriate area law enforcement agency. Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel said five people since Friday have contacted his department expressing confusion over the letters, prompting him to issue a news release Monday explaining and outlining the process. “We’re just getting the word out to people in our community experiencing these letters,” Fengel said. “We’ve been deemed the persons who have to receive the cards, fill out the paperwork and send it to the state.” The news release states that Bartonville residents who receive these letters need to come to the police department “as soon as possible.” Fengel will field any questions on the matter at 697-2323.
