Barukh atah Adonai, Eloheynu Melekh ha-olam, she-he-cheyanu, v’keey’manu, v’higee’anu, la-z’man ha-zeh. Blessed art Thou, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe, Who has kept us in life, and preserved us, and enabled us to reach this time. Why in this time of miracles and joy did history channel chose to show story after story about the shoah (holocaust)? I am setting here watching and crying my eyes out. And the Most High spoke through his still small voice saying what day should you forget that my holy people were butchered like pigs by my enemies. How shall I spin the dreidel this evening for no great miracle happened here... but wait one minute, from amidst the valley of death came forth the modern miracle of eratz israel. Despite his best efforts to wipe out the jewish race hitler fared no better than titus and antiochus epiphanes before him. AM YISRAEL CHAI (The people of Israel Live) out of the ashes comes life. Satan thought he had won when he crucified Moshiach at Golgotha that day but in reality he lost big time. Out of the tomb came a kinsman redeemer... not just for israel but for the romans as well. Truely a great miracle happened here. As i spin the dreidel with my family tonight i must remember the miracle of messiah and the miracle of israel. G-d is still in the miracle business.
