Baseball historical perspective: On May 1, 1920 the Brooklyn Dodgers and Boston Braves played a 26 inning game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Called on account of darkness. Both starting pitchers went the distance. It is estimated that both hurlers threw somewhere between 250-300 pitches. Contrast to today where when the pitch count reaches 100 the manager is looking to the bullpen.
