Based on his views here I am on the following view 1) Though he is trying to portrait the decision was mainly due to breakdown of good governance as a result of 18th amendment, I think it has got absolutely nothing related to this decision. 2) I think this decision was made way earlier and gov was trying hell bent just to delay making it public. Looks like thats what all the negotiations were for. Its apparent when he was saying , now its almost just a one week we got for campaigning and we got to allocate some time for flood victims too, so we have very little time. On the hind side he was saying, sorry government, we cannot delay the announcement any longer, peace be with you. 3) Its definitely doesnt looks like this is the decision the liked to take, may be coz of the luxuries they are going to loose. But because the ground level has already decide to back Sirisena, they got to listen to them. 4) They have kept EPC as a link towards government, just in case they need it in future. 5) There got to be more than just an agreement with UNP in the parliamentary election, which he was very careful not to unleash here. So all in all, almost nothing to loose but everything to gain. Very clever move from their perspective. Hats off to you sir, pity some of the nationalistic leaders dont have that piece of brain to tackle it this well. dailymirror.lk/59833/slmc-for-maithri
