Based on my amateur astronomy, and discussions with other nerds, I have determined a few things about the Game of Thrones planet: 1) It is almost certainly one in a binary star system where it has an irregular 8-shaped orbit in between the two stars. 2) This is why the seasons are so long and appear to end randomly-- they probably dont know because they only see one star at a time, and would require advanced mathematics lost in the Doom of Valyria. It is fair to say that the suns are far enough away that the planet has an extremely long solar cycle. 3) It probably had two moons, and one moon was sucked into one of the suns during the irregular orbit pattern. This is why they have a legend about the moon cracking. 4) It is likely that the dragon eggs came to the planet on top of an asteroid that hit the planet at roughly the same time. This is why the First Men linked the two and started saying that the moon cracked and dragons came out. 5) If aliens are fair game through the dragons, we can theorize that the Others are also aliens.
