Basic tumbling work on the floor is one of my favorite warmups to teach and do. Tumbling is just learning to fall. Tumbling is a fundamental human skill. When I see tumbling I think mm of a few key points. 1. Great warmup for EVERY person 2. Badass active recovery for any athlete 3. Using the ground or floor for soft tissue manipulation 4. Light aerobic work with enough tools to use 5. Tons of motor control development 6. Joint health/spine health 7. Asymmetries highlighted 8. Mind body connection, building self awareness 9. Learning to fall (maybe football and rugby athletes could save their shoulders if they knew a more effective way to fall) 10. Crossing the midline O yea.........it gets pretty damn fun once you build up your toolbox of moves!
