Basin Electric Business Applications Developer Position Title: Business Applications Developer III Department/Location: IST / HDQ – Bismarck, ND Position Purpose/Job Function: This position is responsible for participating in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications. The incumbent is assigned to project teams with responsibility for specific business application systems that utilize a variety of client server, mainframe, or Web technologies. Under supervision, the incumbent collaborates with Cooperative customers, staff, colleagues, and other stake holders to identify user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend solution options. The incumbent is competent to perform work at the highest technical level within this job family. This position is familiar with project management techniques, and may have project leadership responsibility for small/medium projects, regularly coach other team members, or plan work for others to meet project deadlines. Necessary Qualifications: Must have conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in multiple client server environments. The incumbent must have knowledge of project management techniques, experience with structured design, development and implementation of new computing systems and architectures, and experience with the selection and implementation of business application systems at a level acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in computer science, or related discipline and five years of experience in business application design and systems development utilizing Visual Basic, or scripting languages like PHP, JavaScript on both client and server along with advanced programming skills utilizing HTML and XML. Working knowledge of relational database concepts and use of SQL is also necessary. Industry experience is preferred. Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional walking. This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. Must be able to analyze data and reports; conduct research; implement recommendations; direct others; develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
