Basin Electric looking for a Generation/Load Quantitative Analyst Position Title: Generation/Load Quantitative Analyst Department/Location: Marketing and Trading / HDQ – Bismarck, ND Position Purpose/Job Function: This position develops and maintains the Marketing & Trading Departments load forecasts for the Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) system. This position models and maintains Basin Electrics generation costs for the Ventyx Planning and Risk generation forecast and provides the Marketing and Trading Departments daily generation economics. This position also supports other quantitative analysis required by the trading personnel. This position interacts with the real-time and short-term traders to develop position management tools as needed to optimize the BEPC assets and loads. The incumbent provides supporting analysis to the Risk Management Department for daily validation of positions. This position also assists in resolution of back office settlement issues that arise from real-time and short-term transactions. Necessary Qualifications: Must have an in-depth understanding and comprehensive knowledge of electrical power supply industry through the completion of a four-year degree program in business, engineering, economics or math and two years of relevant experience in power marketing, cooperative planning, forecasting, power plant engineering, position management or transmission service arrangements. This position requires excellent oral and written communications and supervisory skills. Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: Requires continuous sitting, reaching, and use of keyboard/computer; frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds; and occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires finger dexterity and must be able to analyze data and reports and conduct research. Must travel to plant sites by plane or by operating a motor vehicle. Uses computer and other office equipment.
