Bathurst Basin (Near the Ostrich Pub) The basin was originally controlled by locks and weirs. The basin also had a railway line bridge installed near to the Ostrich Pub. The lower lock was blocked off during WW2 to prevent the floating harbour from being drained (this is still in place) The upper lock was removed once the southern lock was forever blocked off from the River Avon. The railway line was dismantled and a modern footbridge now stands in its place. I think the before picture is remarkable.
