Bats flew over our heads, diving and circling in patterns. - TopicsExpress

Bats flew over our heads, diving and circling in patterns. Crickets and frogs sing their last songs of the season as two lonely geese call out as they fly across the sky, heading South. I rest my bones on the old picnic table once again as I look out across the pasture and enjoy the last light of the day. I look upon the face of a new Whippoorwill called My Vendetta Seems like a fancy name for this boy but, I can tell by looking at him that he may have once had a fancy life. Someone along the way cared enough about him to teach him manners and he seems very calm about his new surroundings. I suppose there are people in this world who think that trimming a dogs ears, de-clawing a cat or breaking a horses tail for show makes them more appealing but, I dont think theyd be too excepting of my breaking their fingers while I told them it would make their hands more becoming ... but, thats just my thoughts on that. He loaded and unloaded well and his gruff whinny told me he was nervous and a little worried about his future. His bones are showing and the neglect is obvious but, his eyes still hold sparkle and sweetness. I sat watching as he finished his meal and then I led him into the pasture. With camera in hand I waited for the story of how hed join Annabelle & Study horse to unfold but, I have to say .. it was as if they had been expecting to see one another. The new boy went to greet Study and he told him, by pinning his ears, that he was still busy eating. Annabelle said hello by strolling next to him and following him around as he went down to check out the barn. Its been a wonderful past few days with family visiting and the colors of Fall peaking out all around us. Although the weather seems to predict storms and dropping temps, the house is quiet and I am ready for some food of my own. I look forward to the sun coming up in the morning and hope to spend time getting to know the new face. I pray for a good nights sleep and all babies to be kept safe. Send a little prayer for the new fellow. He is a registered Tennessee Walker and turned 19 in June. He will of course receive all the TLC he will need and all the food he can handle. Those kind eyes tell me that he has seen a lot in his days and maybe even a few show rings but, from here ... he will rest, mend and be loved until he is well enough to find the perfect human to love him ... unconditionally.
