Batu Buruk assemblyman Dr Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi has pleaded not guilty in a Sessions Court here to organising a Blackout 505 rally without adhering to conditions set by the police. Dr Syed Azman, 52, was accused of not obtaining consent from KL City Hall for the rally, the conditions set by Dang Wangi OCPD ACP Zainuddin Ahmad. He was alleged to have committed the offence at Padang Merbok in Jalan Parlimen between 2pm and 6pm on June 22. The PAS deputy secretary-general faces an alternative charge of failing to enclose a copy of the written consent from KL City Hall together with his notification dated June 12 to ACP Zainuddinmm, which is deemed as not having given the required 10 days notice. If found guilty under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, he can be fined up to RM10,000 for each of the principal (rpt correct) and alternative charges. DPP Nurulhuda Mohd Nor applied to the court to set his bail at RM3,000 in a similar condition for such cases, which was agreed by his lead counsel Ariff Azami Hussein. Sessions Court judge Mat Ghani Abdullah set two days from Dec 9 for a joint trial with a similar case involving three others. The three others are Pandan MP Mohd Rafizi Ramli, Seremban MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook and PKR secretariat Muhammad Adib Ishar. The judge fixed his bail at RM3,000 and set Oct 22 for case management.
