Batzilla the Bat 23 mins · Now this is scary territory for me. We have an unweaned 5 gram microbat in care and Marty is so tiny I can barely see him let alone feed him. Eeeeek. Marty was found in a hallway with two cats keeping watch over him but fortunately, all they were doing was watching! The little beasties you can see running all over the place are bat specific, parasitic mites and wingless bat flies. Bats dont normally harbour such heavy loads of parasites but with no mother to groom and look after him, the beasties have been partying hard at Martys expense.. Marty will be going to Julie our Microbat Co-ordinator for some desperately needed TLC, parasite removal and mothering.
