Bayonne Energy Center Donates Rescue Equipment to Fire Department Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Bayonne Energy Center has donated high elevation rescue equipment to the Bayonne Fire Department. The Bayonne Energy Center, LLC, a gas fired electric power plant located at 4021 Hook Road, engages in the production and supply of electricity to New York. The $400 million dollar plant fired up operations in 2012.The equipment donated to the Bayonne Fire Department helps strengthen the existing arsenal of rescue tools used by firefighters, and is geared toward technical operations involving rescue at elevation and rescue in confined space. Discussing how the idea for the donation developed, Bayonne Energy Center Facility Manager Shawn Picard said that the company viewed a Fire Department exercise at their facility, and saw the need for providing high elevation rescue equipment to the firefighters. Picard said the Fire Department’s need presented “an opportunity to give back to the community.” Bayonne Energy Center Operations Manager Jason Bass joined Picard at a recent Fire Department photo session to mark the receipt of the donation. Mayor Davis said, “On behalf of the people of Bayonne, I would like to thank the Bayonne Energy Center for its generosity to the Fire Department. The company’s donation of equipment will improve our first responders’ ability to rescue industrial workers and residents during emergencies.” Fire Chief Gregory Rogers said, “I extend my appreciation to the members of Bayonne Energy Center for their generosity, and for helping make our firefighters more effective and safer in their operations. Over the years, we have been the very fortunate recipients of equipment donations from a number of industry partners in the immediate area, including IMTT Bayonne. The cumulative effect of these donations serves to protect neighboring industries, construction workers, and our citizens as well.”
