Bazzoni scores winning goal in final chukker CT Energia(Alessandro Bazzoni, Kris Kampsen, Joao Ganon and Nick Manifold) scored a 13-12 win over Palm Beach Illustrated team (Tommy Collingwood, Jared Zenni, Facundo Obregon and Michel Dorignac)Friday in a Joe Barry Memorial Cup subsidiary game at the International Polo Club. Palm Beach Illustrated struck early and often as they rambled out to an early 3-1 lead. Facundo Obregon scored twice and Jared Zenni added a goal for Palm Beach Illustrated. Kris Kampsen accounted for CT Energia’s first goal of the game. CT Energia cut into the Palm Beach Illustrated lead in the second chukker. Joao Ganon converted on a pair of 30-yard penalty conversions for CT Energia. Obregon scored Palm Beach Illustrated’s only goal of the period on a 30-yard penalty shot as well. CT Energia trailed by a single goal, 4-3. CT Energia outscored Palm Beach Illustrated again in the third chukker. Ganon scored twice from the field with teammate Nick Manifold scoring a goal as well. Obregon scored the first of his two goals in the chukker on a 40-yard penalty shot. He added a goal from the field. After three chukkers the score was all even at 6-6. Three more CT Energia goals in the fourth period gave them the lead, 9-8. Kampsen scored twice from the field while Ganon added a 40-yard penalty goal. Once again it was Obregon with a pair of goals (one on a penalty conversion), but the lead went to CT Energia, 9-8. For the third consecutive chukker, CT Energia scored three times. Kampsen added a goal from the field while Ganon converted a pair of penalty shots. Tommy Collingwood scored the only goal of the chukker as CT Energia rode off the field with a 12-9 advantage. Bazzoni scored the opening goal of the sixth chukker on a pass from the throw-in, 13-9, but Palm Beach Illustrated wasn’t ready to concede anything. Goals from Collingwood and Michel Dorignac had them within two goals of the lead, 13-11, with nearly three minutes on the clock. Collingwood’s third goal of the day cut the lead to a single goal, 13-12, but there was precious little time on the clock. With just over a minute left in regulation play, CT Energia managed to control the ball until the final horn was sounded. Ganon scored five of his seven goals on penalty shots. Kampsen added four goals with Bazzoni and Manifold accounting for single goals for the win. Obregon scored four of his seven goals from the field. Collingwood added three second half goals while Zenni and Dorignac were held to single goals in the loss.
