Bday: Oct. 01, 2004 Age: 9 years old Weight: 18.5 kilogram Diagnosis: TB Meningitis with Obstructive Hydrocephalus Medical History: Marco Paulo was a 7 year old normal child when he got sick of TB Meningitis. He was a healthy child, who loves to play and attend classes. He was born full term via normal delivery. When he got sick of Meningitis on Nov. 2011, a Naso-Gastric Tube was inserted, and since then he is being fed through NGT. Last October, 2013 he was brought to the Medical Checks for Children and was seen by the volunteer doctors from the Netherlands. He was merely 14 kilogram then, severely malnourished, all bone and skin, and spastic. He was recommended to be given milk supplement and vitamins and encouraged the mother to do the physical therapy to the child at home. From October, 2013 until today, Marco gained from 14 kilogram to 18.5kilogram. His spasticity lessened, his muscle tone improved a lot and his bone became supple. He has pinkish complexion now unlike before that the skin were dry. Once a month, his tube (NGT) has to be change. He also need to be given daily supplement of milk and oats, aside from the osteorized food and fruits. His mother is not always around now, she needs to go to work as a sales lady to help the family augment their income. Physical therapy is still needed at least twice a week. The grandparents who are taking care of Marco needs a wheel chair for them to bring him out of the house once in a while. Marco is also using diaper to keep him dry all day and night. Continuous support of milk, oats, vitamins is a must to boost his immune system. Plan of Action: We will still continue to give Marco Reliv milk supplement aside from the vitamins that he needs. We need to find a sponsor for his wheel chair and other needs such as NGT and diapers. Also we need funds for the cost of his Physical Therapy to improve his well being. Monitoring of his health status is a must since he is still severely underweight.
