Be The Change You Seek... Do not be overcome by evil, but - TopicsExpress

Be The Change You Seek... Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21, NKJV) The spark of change begins once you light it. Far too often Christians look for change instead of starting it. JESUS took the opposite approach as each and every Christian should. The world is filled with evil that results in violence, pain and suffering…the natural response is to repay in ki...nd; however, JESUS decided to be the change the world often seeks - You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away (Matthew 5:38-42, NKJV). Understand that JESUS did not mean for Christians to remain in neutral while evil goes unchecked in the world; however, there is a difference between man/woman’s reciprocity and the LORD’s vengeance - Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the LORD (Romans 12:17-19, NKJV). As a Christian you must be the change you seek in the world…put off petty arguments, violence and actions that lead to pain and suffering and replace them with GOD’s love [ And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV)] Do not justify or overcome evil acts by reciprocating them { Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21, NKJV)] Instead, be the change you seek in the world by overcoming the evil in it with GOD’s love - “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV). Today be the change you seek and start by replacing your sin with HIS love - The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel (Jeremiah 31:3-4, NKJV).”
