Be Wild. Be Like ZAWA ZAWA, GRAD CELEBRATE WORLD LION DAY IN STLYE ZAWA in conjunction with the Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Society of Zambia (WECSZ), Green Rural African Development (GRAD) and Grassroots Trust (GRT) yesterday celebrated an educational and fun day for children to create awareness on the importance of lions and wildlife conservation in general, particularly as their populations are dwindling to the point of extinction. This was the second year that World Lion Day was being celebrated in Livingstone and more than 500 children, aged 7 to 15 years, including street kids, from orphanages, government departments and schools were involved. Livingstone won the award for the best World Lion Day event in Africa last year and we believe yesterdays was the world’s best event. The march past was flagged off by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Arts, Lawrence Evans, who was accompanied by Director of Tourism and Arts, Ambassador Muchanga, ZAWA Acting Director General Kampamba Kombe, Director Conservation and Management James Milanzi, Senior Warden Lucizi Mwale and WWF Country Director Dr Nyambe Nyambe. Thanks to our helpers: The Zambia Army, Livingstone City Council, Airtel, GRAD, GRT,GRI, African Impact, Lion Encounter.
