Be Ye Sober Minded. Introduction: Being sober-minded is to be: • Serious: grave, vitally focus, solemn, stern, staid, calm, settled and firm. • Sensible: level-headed, sane, reasonable, shrewd, wise, sagacious, prudent, insightful, sound and common sense. • Rational: logical, based on reason, realistic, judicious, well thought out, careful and consistence. • Composed: together, self-possessed, unruffled, in control, tranquil, relaxing, quiet, cool, calm and collected. In (Titus 2:6) The Apostle Paul wrote to Titus, Likewise exhort Young men to be sober minded. What does it mean to be sober minded? • Always awake and watchful. 1 Thes 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. • Sober minded means to be of good behaviour. (1 Tim 3:2) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach. • Sober minded is a starting point. (1 Pet 1:13) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. When you get dressed, put on a sober mind first. -1 Thess. 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. • Sober minds are the voice of aged wisdom. -Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. • Sober Minded is for ladies too. -Titus 2:4 that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children. 1 Tim 3:11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. • Being Sober Minded is to be vigilant. -1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, and seeking whom he may devour: • Sober and in Prayer. -1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. • Sober is Just, Holy and Temperate. -Titus 1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate. • Sobriety is walking honestly -Rom 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in bedrooms and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Conclusion: So are you drunk or sober minded? Is your life right with God? Is your Heart Right with God? Do you need to be sober minded? Be honest and sincere as you answer this question.
