Be advised that due to a hostage situation in the vicinity of the Central Library, the Buffalo Police have directed us to restrict access to the Central Library. Access is restricted to the Washington Street entrance. Patrons entering or leaving the building must do so through the Washington St. entrance heading South toward the Lafayette Hotel. Our number one priority is patron and staff safety. While the library remains open, we certainly do not encourage folks to travel here at this time. Streets in the vicinity are closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The Library is cooperating with the Buffalo Police Department. The situation is subject to change and we will advise you as we become aware of the changing conditions. Thank you for your patience.
